			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It&#8217;s quite easy to change the skin of your stand alone with a simple edit in the index.html in the root of the zip file you received when you purchased the stand alone. First of all, you can see the available skins if you go into the player folder and then the skin folder. You should see something like this:</p>
<p><img src="http://www.pagegangster.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/skinfolder.png" alt="skinfolder" title="skinfolder"  class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-301" style="margin-bottom: 10px;" /></p>
<p>To try the &#8220;coolsphere&#8221; skin open the index.html and find the following lines:</p>
<p><img src="http://www.pagegangster.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/skincode_before.png" alt="skincode_before" title="skincode_before" width="447" height="88" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-302" /></p>
<p>and replacement &#8220;default&#8221; with &#8220;coolsphere&#8221; and you&#8217;re good to go. You should end up with something like this:</p>
<p><img src="http://www.pagegangster.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/skincode_after.png" alt="skincode_after" title="skincode_after" width="453" height="86" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-306" /></p>
<p><b>I only have the default skin:</b> Then you have an older version of the stand alone. It&#8217;s not a problem. <a href="http://rapidshare.com/files/253514122/skin.zip" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/rapidshare.com/files/253514122/skin.zip?referer=');">Download all the skins</a> and place them in the folder mentioned above. If you have any problems just drop a comment and we&#8217;ll find a solution.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Recently I got a lot of questions on how to embed an activated publication so the viewers don&#8217;t see the pagegangster.com link in the url field of the browser. There are several ways to hide the domain name or getting some other trick to work. If you want to read more about that, look at <a href="http://www.pagegangster.com/eng/page/tips_and_tricks/" target="_blank">some quick tutorials and code snippets</a> on our support section of  pagegangster.com. This post will concentrate on just hiding the pagegangster.com domain.</p>
<p><span id="more-259"></span>First step is to upload and activate your publication. You can <a href="http://www.pagegangster.com" target="_blank">upload the publication here</a> and you&#8217;ll receive an email when it&#8217;s converted so you can activate the publication. Let&#8217;s say you have activate the publication located at <a href="http://www.pagegangster.com/p/ElriB/" target="_blank">http://www.pagegangster.com/p/ElriB/</a> and want to embed it on your website. And you want your viewers to see a thumbnail of the front page and be transferred to the publication (hidden on your domain) when they click it. No problem:</p>
<p>First we must get the embed tags. You can get these from the mail you got when you activated the publication or inside your account. In your account you can find the publication and press the &#8220;Show embed/link code&#8221; just below the &#8220;edit publication&#8221; link:<br />
<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-263" title="picture-1" src="http://www.pagegangster.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/picture-1.png" alt="picture-1" width="233" height="120" /><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-264" title="After pressing the link" src="http://www.pagegangster.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/picture-3-300x156.png" alt="After pressing the link" width="235" height="120" /><br />
Copy the embed code looking something like this:</p>
<p><code lang="html"> &lt;a href="http://www.pagegangster.com/p/ElriB/"&gt;<br />
&lt;img src="http://image.pagegangster.com/ElriB/thumb.jpg" border="0" /&gt;<br />
&lt;/a&gt;</code></p>
<p>You can how insert this on your front page (or wherever you want to place the publication). But now you&#8217;re linking directly to the pagegangster.com domain, and you&#8217;ll properly don&#8217;t want this. Instead you can create a file called &#8220;publication.html&#8221; on your webserver and link to this instead. The only think you&#8217;ll need to change is the link in the above code, so it becomes:</p>
<p><code lang="html"> &lt;a href="http://www.yourdomain.com/publicaion.html"&gt;<br />
&lt;img src="http://image.pagegangster.com/ElriB/thumb.jpg" border="0" /&gt;<br />
&lt;/a&gt;</code></p>
<p>Remember to change yourdomain.com with your actual domain. The next step is to create the publication.html page. This page should embed the publication in a frame so it will look as the publication is directly embedded there. Simply use this code:</p>
<p><code lang="html"><br />
&lt;html&gt;<br />
&lt;head&gt;<br />
&lt;title&gt;Window title&lt;/title&gt;<br />
&lt;/head&gt;<br />
&lt;frameset cols = "*"&gt;<br />
&lt;frame src ="http://www.pagegangster.com/p/ElriB/" /&gt;<br />
&lt;/frameset&gt;<br />
&lt;/html&gt;<br />
</code></p>
<p>That should be all you need. There are tons of different ways to embed your publication so be creative. We&#8217;ll also soon be looking into building modules for some of the major CMSes out there. So if you&#8217;re using a CMS and would like us to focus on that drop a comment and we&#8217;ll put it on the list of things to look at.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If you want to enable Google Analytics on your stand alone you can follow this simple guide:</p>
<p><span id="more-240"></span>Firstly go to <a href="http://www.pagegangster.com/blog/2009/01/google-analytics-tracking/">our previous blog post about Google Analytics</a>, so you can find your GA-identifier. When you got it, go to your stand alone folder and edit the index.html file. In there you can add a section like the following at the bottom:</p>
<pre>        &lt;script type="text/javascript"&gt;
            var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ?</pre>
<pre>                        "https://ssl." : "http://www.");</pre>
<pre>            document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost +</pre>
<pre>            "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
        &lt;/script&gt;

        &lt;script type="text/javascript"&gt;
            try {
                customerTracker = _gat._getTracker("My tracker");
                customerTracker._trackPageview();
            } catch(err) {}
        &lt;/script&gt;</pre>
<p>Remember to change &#8220;My tracker&#8221; with the GA-Identifier you got from Google. If the index.html file already contains a section like that you can just replace the tracker code with your own.</p>
<p>If you were one of the first purchasing a stand alone, the player might be from before we integrated Google Analytics. If you find yourself pretty sure you completed this guide correct and it still don&#8217;t work you might need to have your stand alone upgraded. Please write to <a href="mailto:standalone@pagegangster.com">standalone@pagegangster.com</a></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I spammed some of you a couple of days ago for some purchase information, sorry about that. To prevent that from happening again we did an overhaul to the activation process, and this might affect you in the future.</p>
<p><span id="more-218"></span>So what we did was to require you to enter a company name if you select &#8220;We&#8217;re a company&#8221;. That&#8217;s seems pretty fair.. If you can&#8217;t remember your company name you might have more serious problems than not beeing able to activate your publication&#8230; No just kidding. Nothing is more important than that :)</p>
<p>Now, if you&#8217;re not only purchasing as a company but you also happen to reside in Europe we need your VAT number. Otherwise we can&#8217;t reverse the VAT charge and you&#8217;ll end up paying 25% more for your publication. If you&#8217;re having trouble finding your VAT number we can give you a little hint. It looks something like this:</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We have got a couple of mails regarding the our stand alone, and how to install it, so I&#8217;ll try to guide you through the file structure, and show what you&#8217;re able to do once the publication is in place. Please leave a comment if you have any questions or write to info (at) pagegangster.com and I&#8217;ll pick it up from there.</p>
<p><span id="more-193"></span></p>
<p>Now, to get started it would properly help if you either had your own stand alone zip package or downloaded <a href="http://rapidshare.com/files/147699796/StandAloneExample.zip" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/rapidshare.com/files/147699796/StandAloneExample.zip?referer=');">our example file</a>. When you unzip the file you&#8217;ll end up with a folder called STANDALONE containing something like:</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.pagegangster.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/finder.png"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-200" src="http://www.pagegangster.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/finder.png" alt="" width="461" height="314" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The Autorun.inf are for those of you burning the contents of the folder on a CD or DVD. In case you do this the CD should contain these files when you browse it (not a folder called STANDALONE). If you try to open the index.html file in a browser you should actually be able to see the publication. That means that you can just put the contents of the folder on a webserver and visit the index.html in a browser and you&#8217;re good to go.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">Customizing the viewer</h3>
<p style="text-align: left;">Now that you got the publication viewable you can make changes to it. You can control quite a lot by editing the index.html file. If you open this in a text editor you should be able to see something like:</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://www.pagegangster.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/indexhtmlvim.png"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-207" title="indexhtmlvim" src="http://www.pagegangster.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/indexhtmlvim.png" alt="" width="500" height="156" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">These settings allows you to control a bunch of things:</p>
<ul>
<li>Setting a background image.</li>
<li>Turn buttons on and off</li>
<li>Turn stats on and off</li>
<li>Disable zoom</li>
</ul>
<p>So just change all the things you want, save it and revisit the index.html page in your browser. It might be a good idea to keep a original copy of the file if something goes wrong.</p>
<p>Now there are a lot of other things you can do, so I have gathered some links for you:</p>
<ul>
<li><a href="http://www.pagegangster.com/blog/2008/12/share-your-stand-alone-publication/" target="_blank">How to enable the share functionality on a stand alone</a> (also contains information about how to enable users to open the publication on a specific page)</li>
<li><a href="http://www.pagegangster.com/p/ENfmE/" target="_blank">How to style your stand alone (A MUST READ)</a></li>
</ul>
<p>Stay tuned.. next post &#8211; from me anyway &#8211; will properly be about getting the most out of Google Analytics.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Yesterday we added a smart little feature that allows you to track your publication with Google Analytics (If you don&#8217;t have an account you can <a href="http://www.google.com/analytics/" target="_blank" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.google.com/analytics/?referer=');">create on for free</a>). In your account you can set a default <em>google tracker</em>, but also override it on individual publications. All you need is a google analytics account and your tracker ID. It looks something like:<span id="more-154"></span></p>
<blockquote><p>UA-XXXXXXX-X or UA-XXXXXXX-XX</p></blockquote>
<p>You can find it in your account overview in your analytics account. When you add the tracking to a publication you&#8217;ll begin to see stats after 24 hours. You&#8217;ll be able to track stuff like the number of people visiting your publication and how often they share, flip and a bunch of other stuff.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.pagegangster.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/googleanalytics_11.png"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-175" title="googleanalytics_11" src="http://www.pagegangster.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/googleanalytics_11.png" alt="" width="480" height="161" /></a></p>
<h3><span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-weight: normal;"><strong>S</strong></span><strong>o, what to look for</strong></span></h3>
<p>There are two kind of urls to look for. The first is the the basic landing page when people view your publication. It will start with &#8220;/p/&#8221;. Whenever the publication is flipped, zoomed and shared the action is also recorded. You&#8217;ll see these as page views starting with &#8220;/statistics/&#8221;.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.pagegangster.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/googleanalytics_2.png"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-172" title="googleanalytics_2" src="http://www.pagegangster.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/googleanalytics_2.png" alt="" width="480" height="116" /></a></p>
<p>I have kept this post very short, just to get the word out there,  so you can start getting your stats. Google analytics has almost endless possibilities and I&#8217;ll blog some more about how to find click numbers for your adds etc.</p>
