WELCOME PROMISING FUTURE With great respect for the past and a clear future vision, Lenexa’s civic and business leaders work together daily in planning and implementing a future that benefits both residents and businesses. With this dedicated and aggressive team, Lenexa will continue to be the bright, shining star of the Kansas City metropolitan area. Welcome to the City of Lenexa. The community is known as a great place to conduct business, for your employees to work, to live and to enjoy an excellent quality of life. We are pleased that you have chosen to call Lenexa home. Our community takes great pride in its reputation throughout the country as a progressive city, leader and innovator. According to our most recent citizen survey, nearly all residents (98%) believe Lenexa is a good or excellent place to live, and 92% of the residents say that they are pleased with the overall quality of life. Citizens are happy with overall city services. In fact, Lenexa was ranked as the metro leader in nearly every major service category when compared to other cities in the Kansas City metropolitan area, according to ETC Institute, which conducted the survey. Lenexa has a great deal to offer. Our businesses and residents enjoy well planned business parks and safe, attractive neighborhoods, quality infrastructure, beautiful parks, and a wonderful hometown sense of community spirit, while having all of the advantages of being part of a major metropolitan area. Exciting things are happening in Lenexa. Momentum is building at Lenexa City Center, the city’s new mixed-use urban development, which is under construction at 87th Street Parkway and Renner Boulevard – just west of I-435. Project plans have been approved for all four corners which will total more than 4.5 million square feet of development on just over 200 acres. To learn more about Lenexa Center, I hope you will visit the City Center website at www.lenexacitycenter.com. Known as the “City of Festivals,” Lenexa continues to provide a variety of festivals and events bringing neighbors, friends, and business associates together. These events include the Great Lenexa Barbeque Battle, Community Days, which includes the Lenexa Freedom Run, a community parade and a fireworks display on July 4th, community profile WaterFest, Spinach Festival, Chili Challenge, Enchanted Forest, and the Old Town Lighting Ceremony. The City of Lenexa is fortunate to have a strong and vibrant business community and an excellent relationship with the Lenexa Chamber of Commerce, working together for the betterment of the entire community. We welcome you to the City of Lenexa and look forward to working together in the coming year. Michael A.
