Your get-togethers THE ORANGERY GETS ITS BEST EVER ATTENDANCE Eastern region impresses those at the top The Reckitt Benckiser Pensioners’ Association chairman David Saltmarsh and the Trustee representative on the RB Pension Fund Kevin O’Berg were impressed when more than 40 members turned up to meet them at Eastern Region’s October get-together at the White Horse in Trowse. Ken Herbert introduced David and Kevin and they answered questions on an informal basis as they circulated amongst the pensioners. Kevin told Contact: “It was a valuable opportunity to hear the views of ordinary members and we enjoyed sharing the community spirit of this very active regional group. “We are conscious that there is no longer a company connection in Norwich but this area remains a very important part of the Pensioners’ Association. The company heritage and tradition still come across very strongly. “Particularly useful was the opportunity to discuss issues with Ken and pensioner visitors Neville Starling and Pam Gulliver.” Ken Herbert said the chance to meet with David and Kevin was very much appreciated. A short silence was observed in memory of Sir James Cleminson and many, including David and Kevin, stayed on for a meal. There was a “best ever” attendance of 35 for Derby’s September get-together at The Orangery in Markeaton Park. Old friends and colleagues cannot really be described as new faces but the regulars were pleased to see several making their first get-together visit. Among them was Peter Barber, right, who was personnel administration manager for many years at Derby and who was well liked and known to pensioners in attendance. Peter was accompanied by his wife and John Timmins, the new pensioner visitor for the Derby area, was also present. After catching up with all the gossip the day finished with a raffle and everyone looking forward to the next get-together in April 2011.
