Author Frank Davies, who was with Reckitt’s Colours and its successors for 28 years (see Contact No 39, October 2007) says that, once published, the intention is to send a free copy to as many ex-Morley Street employees as they are able to locate. “We have managed to collect several hundred addresses but these are, mainly, people who have worked for the company over the past ten years or so,” said Frank. The offer of a free copy is open to all ex-Morley Street/Reckitt’s Colours employees including, of course, pensioners. Contact has been asked to help in tracking down those who, for various reasons, could be missed. No. 45, October 2009 Searching for those who passed through The Morley Street factory, above, closed and was put up for sale last year but the chimney is likely to dominate the Hull skyline for many years to come. Up to date on inters and intras This issue of Contact is accompanied by the 2009 Reckitt Benckiser Pension Fund Update which is issued to serving members of the Fund as well as pensioners and deferred pensioners. Apart from bringing you up to date on the Fund’s performance the Pensioner’s Association suggests you keep it handy as a source of reference as pensions in general look likely to remain in the headlines for a long time to come. This year the Update also appears in the on-line pageturning format with our digital iContact version (www. icontactnewsletter.co.uk) and we will be interested to hear from our viewer readers what they think of this development. Tim Wood from one of the Pension Councillors, who wrote: “I’ve just been enjoying the latest issue of Contact and a couple of blokes in the office have enjoyed a read of it as well. I know it’s really for the Pensioners, but it does make a good read and I wondered if it might be possible to put a link on the BIZ Pensions web site to the internet version?” No sooner said than done, we gather. Tim commended it as a good idea and the link is in the “And there’s more.…” section in “Other useful publications”. Download or access any time The advantage here is that there is no need to hang on to the printed version as the report can be downloaded and kept on your computer in .pdf format or simply accessed on-line at any time. The association’s committee was delighted to learn that iContact has been made available to Reckitt Benckiser employees via a link to the company’s internal (intranet) news service (the BIZ).
