4 Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 1994 (as amended) Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995 (as amended) Information in this Certificate may assist the client, planning supervisor, designer and contractors to address their obligations under these Regulations. Technical Specification 5 Description 5.1 Thermo-Foil ES, Thermo-Foil, Eco-Brite and Tape comprises a coated reflective film, laminated to each side of a polyethylene core for use as a thermal insulation and vapour control layer. Thermo-Foil is also available in extra strength (ES) grade. 5.2 Laps are sealed with a metallized film with pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive. 5.3 The products are available in roll form with the following nominal properties (see Table 1). Table 1 Nominal properties Thermo-Foil height (m) length (m) roll weight (kg) tensile strength (kNm–2) working temperature reflectivity Thermo-Foil ES 1.25 96 19 6.62 –30°C to + 100°C 95% Eco-Brite 5.4 The products are secured in place by: nails or staples — for timber constructions self-drilling screws with bonded washers — for metal and/or steel constructions. 6 Delivery and site handling 6.1 The products are delivered to site in rolls packed in clear polyethylene and sealed at each end. 6.2 The rolls should be stored in clean, dry conditions not exposed to sunlight. The product must be protected from being dropped or crushed by objects. 6.3 On site, to ensure maximum performance of the product when installed, precautions must be taken to protect it from mud and dirt. 16 6.28 19 3.81 3 previous page next page
