Welcome to the second issue of Design|Online Magazine, a student publication for Westwood Online College. This showcases the wonderful talents of our most recent graduates. I had a lot of fun helping in the production of this issue and want to thank everyone involved for all their hard work and time. While some people have no problem attending traditional classes where there are standard times for classes, micromanaging instructors, and time constraints for when tests must taken, that environment is not for everyone. Westwood College Online's emphasis is on quality in education while letting the rest of us be creative when the mood hits; whether it is at midnight or if one has enough caffeine at eight in the morning. The timing is up to us when we choos to go to class. The ability to be free with our time and in the comfort of our own homes or offices makes a huge difference in the creative process for most artists and designers. The Westwood staff has always been encouraging and helpful toward the higher educational needs of the students and promotes more than just classes that teach the basics. “How does it all work?” you might ask. Read the article about the Westwood Orientation found on page 25 to learn about the process of going to school at Westwood Online College. The focus is getting a good grasp on the way the course shell works; the rest is up to you. Westwood promotes individualism, creativity, and professionalism. They do not stop in the classroom; they offer job opportunities that can lead to a student to make the grade after graduation too. Check out the article on the Student Services Team that can be found on page 18 for more insight into what they offer our student body. You do not just learn design here. You learn how to be a professional. Take this magazine for instance; the last step in the graduation process is to be published in a magazine that will be seen by professionals looking to hire. What better way to exit into the realm of the professional from the student? A graduating representative is featured for each area of the School of Design showing off their best student work, as well as some professional work. If you are interested in learning more about how to become a graduate of the Westwood College Online School of Design please call 1-866-234-4934 and ask an Admissions Representative how to get started.
