Keeping up to date on pensions developments
One former pensions manager succeeding another as the Reckitt Benckiser Pensioners’ Association Trustee on the company’s Pension Fund will provide a continuing level of understanding and knowledge of what is going on at a time when pensions continue to be headline news.
Ivor Jones, having come to the end of the period for which he was appointed, has now retired as Trustee. Kevin O’Berg has been nominated by the committee and appointed in Ivor’s place. Both Ivor and Kevin started their Reckitt & Colman careers with Colours Division and both, coincidentally, retired as head of the Group Pensions Department at Dansom Lane, Hull. dedication he has put into his role. “Kevin has been on our committee since 2006 and, as he was the company pensions manager, he has a depth of understanding of the pensions scene which will serve him (and us) well as a Trustee.”
Brian Bradley joins the committee
Following the election reported in the last edition of Contact (No.43, February, 2009) Brian Bradley has been welcomed as a new member of the committee. Freddie George and Kevin O’Berg were re-elected. Brian, right, is our man in the East Midlands, as a visitor in the Lincoln area and as organiser of the get-togethers in Derby. Talking of visitors we are still in dire need of volunteers in the Northern area, where we are down to one.
Professional briefings
There are seven Trustees of the Reckitt Benckiser Pension Fund, four appointed by the company and three “Member-Nominated Trustees” (MNTs). One of the MNTs is the Association’s selection, the other two being selected by the ten-strong Pension Council representing company employee members. In addition to meeting their legal obligation to see the Fund is properly run in members’ interests the Trustees are regularly briefed by professional advisers, such as lawyers and financial experts, on the national and international pensions scene.
