MUSTARD SHOP EXHIBITION HONOURS CARROW GIRLS Norwich’s world-famous Mustard Shop & Museum (management of which is now, to use the modern business term, outsourced) put on a special exhibition honouring the five Colman girls killed in the first bombing raids on the city on July 9 1940. Esther McNamee, then 91, sister of Bertha Playford was at that unveiling and also, now aged 100, at a special service at St.Peter Mancroft Church, Norwich on July 9 this year, 70 years to the day after the horrific event. The Mustard Shop exhibition carried photographs of the five Colman girls, who were on their way home from Carrow Works when they were killed, as did a special full-page feature article in the Norwich Evening News.
