About the Cover
SPIRAL 3: BRIDGING SEPARATION—FROM THE “CREATION ENERGETICS” SERIES. Ceramic white earthenware, slips, oil sticks, 13" x 13" x1.5", Mona Shiber. In this mandala, the caduceus—the 3 lines of energy intertwining from root to crown, from heaven to earth—represents the chakra system. Kundalini energy spins through the fluid of the spinal staff. The image of the 2-petaled lotus becomes the 2 wings positioned at the third eye. This mandala is the third of a grouping of 9 in the “Creation Energetics” series, where spiraling energy of creation is mapped in symbolic and numeric imagery. The caduceus rests on the back structure of a 9-square, a symbol of the Cosmos in eastern tradition. My works are a “mystic mapping” composed of several series exploring creation mythologies and the evolution of human consciousness through the lens of the kundalini-chakra system, along with present moment awareness and mind/body/spirit connection.
