Developments
The acquisition of the well known Lincolnshire firm Maltby’s has resulted in a major expansion of the pharmacy division. Maltby’s is a long-established retail and wholesale business. It has ten pharmacies and over 100 wholesale customers. Gradually, the pharmacies are going to be given our branding. The wholesale arm will continue under the Maltby’s name. We’re delighted to be carrying forward this well respected local business. Our new funeral home in Proctors Road, Lincoln, has opened to serve people in the north of the city and villages beyond. The Society’s flagship home store in Tritton Road, Lincoln, has had a half a million pound facelift. It includes an extended furniture range, a refurbished food hall and a new dedicated Cruise Lounge for travel customers. We’ve had a really positive reaction from shoppers. We’ve also given a number of other outlets a fresh new look. These have included stores in Horncastle, Carholme Road and Queen Elizabeth Road in Lincoln and foodstores and Post Offices in Chapel St Leonards and Gosberton. Looking forward, we’ve been granted planning permission for our first foodstore in Louth and work has started on site for a new foodstore and pharmacy at Witham St Hughs and a replacement foodstore in Caistor.

The Society employed 2,737 staff of which 926 were full time and 1,811 were part time as at 6th March 2010. We continue to invest in training and staff development.
